David J. Holland is an American born visual artist from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma who creates artwork in the mediums of oil, oil pastel and pencil. His artwork has developed into several series of art that he primarily focuses on including his Cloudscape Series, Modern Life Series, and a Torso Series.
The Cloudscape Series depicts the beauty and intricacy of storms and specifically thunderstorm clouds known as "thunderheads". The subject matter of his artwork in the Modern Life Series is the effect on the individual of the fast pace of change that modern technology brings about and how these changes influence the psyche. His Torso Series of oil pastel paintings and pencil drawings represent broken Roman marble torsos that he has photographed in art museums in the United States and Europe and depicted in brilliant colors from opposite sides of the color wheel to create a striking 3-D effect.
